My love language involves meat

My sister-in-law is getting married in June and I have the pleasure of co-hosting a cinco de mayo shower for her this Sunday. I volunteered to cook the entree as part of my hosting duties which led to me wrangling two 10lb pork shoulder roasts into my grocery cart last night and then starting to cook one of the said hunks of meat this morning. 10lbs of pork is a strange way to wake up in the morning. I will tell you that, but the end result should be fabulous! I am using this recipe from the pioneer woman http://thepioneerwoman.com/cooking/2008/08/spicy-shredded-pork/ and I will let you know how it turns out. Tomorrow I will be dealing with the other roast and twenty pounds of chicken!

Side note: I didn't actually list anything in my etsy shops yesterday. Trev was working and had to take his laptop which left me without my images. Today is a new day as is tomorrow and the next day and the next day... I will let you know when they are up for real :)

On the first of May...

Happy May Day! May first is the deadline I gave myself to get my etsy shops up and running, and also writing my first (this) blog post. Mental spring cleaning to be sure. I have long felt a nagging guilt over not using my skills beyond motherhood and finally decided to do something about it.

I have opened two shops on Etsy. One is Red Roosevere and in it I will sell the baby pants I sew, greeting cards, banners, and other fun colorful items. The other shop is Elly Bates Art and this is where my serious art will be sold. The art that I have had shows with and that challenges the fine artist in me. I also will sell custom portraits in this shop. I will hopefully have posts up that showcase both stores and the products within. In the meantime, this is a good start for me in my new world of online activity and hopefully you will hear more from me soon.
